Sensory Rehabilitation Officer Rate of Pay: ?15.78 up to ?18.00 per hour (PAYE) Hours: 37 hours per week Location: Independent Living centre, 100 Oldbury Road, Smethwick, B66 1JE Start Date: ASAP Contract type: Agency Job Description and Personnel Specification are attached, which also provides more information above the role. Brief description: We are currently seeking to recruit a Sensory Rehabilitation Officer who is highly enthusiastic and motivated to enable and empower Visually Impaired people to live independently with dignity and choice, by training/retraining their skills and building their confidence to live independently and contribute to the communities they live in. If you are able to work to tight deadlines and enjoy working in a fast paced environment, then this is the role for you. We are a dynamic responsive team and operate a duty system that you will be part of alongside colleagues. You will need to be self-motivated, organised and have effective communication skills both written and verbal. To apply for this role you will need to hold an Honours Degree or Dip HE/Foundation degree in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment) or equivalent. Applicants must have the ability to travel around the borough and there may also be a requirement of the post that you use a vehicle for undertaking visits, including transportation of small items of equipment. Your Role will include: o Specialist Sensory assessments o Low Vision Training o Planning and delivering training programmes of support to meet the individual needs. o Orientation and mobility training o Training / retraining Daily Living Skills to achieve maximum independence. o Enhance and enrich their current reading / writing skills o Helping and encouraging to achieve their potential through use of equipment and assistive technology o Referring to other professionals or agencies for additional support if needed. Working across a variety of service user groups including (but not exclusively) people with dual sensory loss, physical or learning disabilities, cognitive impairments or mental health conditions. An Enhanced Adults Barring DBS check is required for this role. This role falls inside of IR35. Please can the agencies send over a CV, 2x up to date references and a copy of Terms and Conditions.
