Weight Management Services - Obesity PIN

Notice Description

This Notice solely relates to early market engagement around the potential development of NHS Commissioned Weight Management Services, which will aim to deliver weight loss in adults with obesity over a 12-week period. NHS England wishes to notify potential providers about its intention to commence early market engagement in advance of a potentially commissioning Weight Management Services to be delivered remotely using digital technology. The programme will seek to provide 12-week remote and digital weight loss programme aimed at supporting weight loss in adults, with a specific focus on high risk groups. Provision of a targeted support offer and access to weight management services in primary care for people with a BMI of 30+ (adjusted appropriately for ethnicity), and a comorbidity of hypertension and/or diabetes is a commitment of the NHS Long Term Plan. A market engagement event is being held to inform plans for the introduction and evaluation of the planned weight management service in England and consider current digital products associated with a range of delivery channels such as web-based platforms, mobile apps and human coaching. Potential providers are encouraged to attend the market engagement event to hear more detail on current plans, and to share insight to further inform these plans. The remote digital event is to be held on 27th July 2020, 9:30am - 11am. Please note that attendance is limited to a maximum of two participants per organisation and registration with the national team is essential prior to the event to secure a place.
