Summary of the contracting process

The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames is conducting a procurement process titled "RBK Greenspace Services," focused on parks maintenance services within the borough. This competitive dialogue procedure is currently at the tender stage, with a contract value of £18,200,000 and an extensive duration of seven years, plus an option for a seven-year extension, potentially extending the contract to a maximum of 14 years. The tender period is set to conclude on 15 February 2021, and the required services include a comprehensive range of greenspace maintenance and public amenity provisions across Kingston upon Thames.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly for businesses specialising in grounds maintenance, landscape management, and environmental services. Companies that have experience with local authorities or municipal contracts, especially those capable of managing large-scale service provisions and community engagement, will be well-placed to compete. The inclusion of quality criteria alongside price in the evaluation process emphasises the need for innovative management methodologies and a strong focus on social value, suggesting that firms with a robust operational framework and community outreach might have an advantage in this bidding process.
