Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Supply Chain: Hotel Services is initiating a procurement process for the "National Ambulance Uniform and General Workwear" contract, with a planned budget of approximately £4,000,000 to £6,000,000 per annum, over a six-year framework. This procurement falls under the category of goods within the clothing, footwear, luggage articles, and accessories industry, and is currently in the planning stage. A webinar for potential suppliers is anticipated to be held in February or March 2021 to discuss the exercise, with the official invitation to tender expected to be published in March 2021. Interested parties should register via the Jaggaer e-Tendering system to be notified of further details.

This procurement tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in uniform production, workwear, and related accessories, particularly those with experience in supplying to the healthcare sector. Companies that offer managed services and automated ordering systems may have a competitive edge, as the appointed suppliers will need to provide distribution and management information to various NHS Trusts. Given that the contract may be divided into lots, businesses that can deliver both core uniforms and general workwear items, including personal protective clothing, will find strong potential for growth in this contract.
