Notice Title
PR20076 X-band Klystron Modulator for the CLARA Facility at Daresbury Laboratory
Notice Description
UK Research and Innovation is putting in place a Contract for UK PR20076 X-band Klystron Modulator for Clara. The duration of this Contract will be 4 years See Section I.3 for access to procurement documentation
Lot Information
Lot 1
The final date and time for the submission of bids is the 17th November 2020 at 14:00. DO NOT apply directly to the buyer. All tender information MUST be submitted through the Delta eSourcing Portal. Brief Description of Requirement; A next-generation light source test facility is to be constructed at the Daresbury Laboratory which will be known as CLARA (Compact Linear Accelerator for Research and Applications), shown in Figure 1. The aim of the CLARA project is to develop a normal conducting test accelerator capable of generating longitudinally and transversely bright electron bunches and to use these bunches in the experimental production of stable, synchronised, ultra-short photon pulses of coherent light from a single pass FEL (Free Electron Laser) with techniques directly applicable to the future generation of light source facilities. STFC requires 1 klystron modulator to deliver RF power to 1 normal conducting X-band 4th Harmonic cavity (4HC). This klystron must be able to deliver a MINIMUM of 8 MW of RF peak power for 3.0 us at a repetition rate of 100 Hz. However a preferred capability of >=10 MW of RF peak power, with RF pulse widths of up to 3 us while operating at a repetition rate of up to 100 Hz. Assuming a klystron efficiency of 40%, the modulator must have a peak power capability of 25 MW. However, it should be noted that these conditions may not all be required at the same time. This specification concerns the design, manufacture, testing, delivery, to Daresbury Laboratory and documentation of 1 klystron modulator. Please ensure you review all attached information to ensure a full understanding of this requirement. All attachments can be found with the Document Uploads tab within the Delta eSourcing Portal. This contract will be awarded based on the evaluation criteria set out in the Invitiation to tender pack document. How to Apply UK Research an Innovation will be using the Delta eSourcing Portal for this procurement. To register on the Delta eSourcing portal please use the link https://delta-esourcing.com and follow the instructions to register. If you are already registered on the Delta eSourcing Portal and wish to participate in this procurement, please use the link: https://delta-esourcing.com and the follow the instructions to 'Login'Once you are logged into the system you will be able to link yourself into this procurement using the Access Code: U4K28E2366 Please disregard any content in this notice that requests your organisation "to apply directly to the buyer" as this unfortunately a system generated error, that is outside of the Contracting Authorities control.
