Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Black Country and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group, previously known as NHS Wolverhampton Clinical Commissioning Group, has initiated a procurement process for Individual Placement Services (IPS) for the Birmingham, Solihull, and Coventry areas. The process, which falls under the health and social work services industry category, is currently complete with contract awards made on 3rd September 2021. The service commenced in July 2021 and is set for an initial duration of one year, with an option to extend for up to three additional years. Each of the three lots targeted specific healthcare services aligned with community care settings.

This procurement process presents significant opportunities for businesses in the health and social care sector, particularly those with experience in providing community-based services. Providers specialising in IPS and those capable of addressing issues such as homelessness, criminal justice pathways, and neuro-developmental support are especially well-suited to compete. Given the competitive bidding landscape, where four bids were submitted for the lots, interested businesses are encouraged to demonstrate their expertise and flexibility in grassroots healthcare solutions to maximise their chances of success.
