Summary of the contracting process

Cumbria County Council is currently engaged in the procurement process for the "Early Education and Childcare Flexible Framework," aimed at securing child daycare services under the legal framework set by the EU Directive 2014/24/EU. This tender is at the planning stage, with a published date of 19th March 2021. The framework is designed to provide free childcare places for eligible children aged two, three, and four years, with a focus on enhancing access to these services across Cumbria, located in the United Kingdom. Interested parties can access the framework throughout its duration, although no obligations are placed on the authority to award contracts.

This tender presents a unique opportunity for businesses focused on child daycare services, especially those catering to diverse communities, including ethnic minorities and disabled persons. Companies that demonstrate compliance with statutory obligations and actively participate in supplier audits related to diversity would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. The flexible nature of the framework may also allow new and existing service providers to scale their operations, thereby expanding their market reach and reinforcing their role in supporting free childcare initiatives in the region.
