Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is undertaking a public procurement process for a Small-Form Factor Troposcatter System (SFFTS) under the completed tender titled "Troposcatter System." This procurement falls within the goods category, specifically focusing on microwave radio equipment, and took place in the UK. The tender used a limited procurement method without a prior call for competition, justified on technical grounds. The contract, valued at £496,991.03, was signed on 12 March 2021.

This tender presents considerable growth opportunities for technology companies, particularly those specialising in advanced communications equipment. Businesses that can provide one-person portable, battery-operated systems capable of operating in C-band with a minimum bandwidth of 100Mbps would be well-suited to compete. The procurement process highlights the Ministry of Defence's commitment to enhancing the technological capabilities of the UK Defence forces, indicating a demand for innovative solutions in the defence sector.
