Summary of the contracting process

The Buckinghamshire Council is seeking to award a contract for the "Toxicology Provision" as part of its Coroner Service, which includes body storage, mortuary provision, and histology. This procurement falls under the health and social work services category and is located in Buckinghamshire, UK. The contract, which has been awarded following an open tender procedure, is currently active and is valued at £242,338. It commenced on 1st April 2021 and is set to run until 31st March 2026, with possible extensions of up to three additional years. The relevant procurement processes are aligned with the Coroners and Justice Act 2009, serving a population of approximately 540,000, with significant transport and healthcare infrastructure in the area.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses in healthcare and forensic services, particularly those specialising in toxicology and related analyses. Suppliers with expertise in post-mortem examinations and facilities for analysing tissue and body fluids would be well-positioned to compete. Furthermore, as the contract supports a region experiencing population growth, companies capable of scaling their services to meet increasing demands in public health and safety may find this an advantageous market to enter.
