Summary of the contracting process

The Environment Agency is set to initiate a tendering process for the "MEICA Electrical Installation Condition Reporting (EICR) Services" aimed at enhancing its electrical service capabilities across the UK. This planned procurement, valued at approximately £1.2 million, seeks suppliers for the periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations at various MEICA assets including flood and coastal sites. The invitation to express interest will close on 11th June 2021. Interested parties are encouraged to register via the Defra Network eTendering Portal, where they can also partake in shaping the procurement strategy through a survey aimed at assessing supplier capabilities.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses in the electrical services industry, particularly those with expertise in inspection and testing in compliance with IET Wiring Regulations. Qualified electricians with the necessary certifications such as C&G 2391-50 and 51 or equivalent would be well-suited to engage in this process. Companies focusing on environmental services or with experience in working with national agencies may find the EICR services particularly advantageous, as they can contribute to critical infrastructure that supports flood risk management and water resources across the UK.
