Summary of the contracting process

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has concluded a procurement process titled "DHSC International Freight and Logistics Solutions," which falls under the transport services category. This procurement was conducted through an open procedure and involved five lots covering various modes of logistics management, including air, sea, road, and rail freight. The process is now complete, with key dates surrounding the contract awards occurring primarily in March and April 2021. The total value for the contracts awarded amounts to £96 million for the first year, with provisions for a 12-month extension available, initiated by a minimum three-month prior notification.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly for businesses specialising in freight management and logistics services, including air charter operations and international transportation solutions. Companies with capabilities in managing end-to-end logistics, including customs clearance and coordination with manufacturers, suppliers, and third-party organisations, would be well-suited to participate. Given the complexity and scale of the contracts, businesses that can demonstrate operational capacity and flexibility to meet the DHSC’s needs are likely to excel in this competitive landscape.
