Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence has completed a procurement process for the title "Provision of Medals, Stars, Clasps, Awards, Badges, Coins and other Associated Items." This tender falls under the goods category, specifically focusing on medals as indicated by the CPV classification. The procurement was split into two lots, with Lot 1 concerning various medals and awards and Lot 2 related to badges and coins. The contracts, valued at £11,502,000 and £400,000 respectively, were signed on 13 May 2022 and 12 May 2022. This open procurement process will allow for potential extensions of up to an additional 24 months at the discretion of the authority and primarily involves deliveries to Gloucester, UK.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses specializing in manufacturing medals, awards, and other related items. Companies with capabilities in quality metalwork, engraving, design, and production are well-suited to compete for these contracts. The absence of guaranteed orders implies that suppliers should have the capacity to handle fluctuations in demand, but there are significant quantities anticipated, particularly in Lot 1, making this an attractive proposition for SMEs looking to expand their market presence in governmental contracts.
