Summary of the contracting process

WM5G LIMITED, located in Birmingham, UK, has initiated a procurement process titled "Remote Capsule Endoscopy" under the health services category. The procurement is currently in the Award stage as of 11 May 2021. The total contract value is £100,000, with the intention to award a contract for a capsule endoscopy trial that began on 2 May 2021. The process was conducted using a limited procurement method without prior publication of a call for competition, as a specific contractor demonstrated the necessary capabilities to deliver related services in an NHS context.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those capable of supporting community-based colon capsule endoscopy trials. Companies that have a proven track record in managed service delivery within the NHS environment would be particularly well-suited to compete, especially those with experience in similar health technology and patient service integration solutions. The award to Corporate Health International indicates a focus on established suppliers with specialised expertise in this niche sector.

Notice Title

Remote Capsule Endoscopy

Notice Description

This is a VEAT Notice of WM5G's intention to award a contract. WM5G intend to award a contract to support a capsule endoscopy trial. The agreement will be to shape and deliver the components required for a home-delivered capsule endoscopy service providing both the technical solution and its integration into care pathway process and operating procedures.

Lot Information

Lot 1

WM5G intend to award a contract to support a trial for Capsule Endoscopy. This agreement is intended to be awarded in June 2021 and will be to identify a supplier to provide technical support to shape and deliver the components required for a home-delivered capsule endoscopy service providing both the technical solution and its integration into care pathway process and operating procedures. Successful delivery of this trial will require the experience and understanding of a managed service delivery organisation already delivering community based colon capsule endoscopy services in an NHS environment. There is only one organisation in this position, currently providing the national Scotcap rollout in Scotland. We believe this is the only national community-based delivery on the world.

Procurement Information

The products, services and support can be provided only by a particular contractor that can demonstrate existing capability to deliver community based colon capsule endoscopy within the NHS. This VEAT notice is alerting the market of WM5G's intention to award a contract via a sole source procedure and not via a competitive tender via OJEU. WM5G intends to award a contract for the above once a 30 day period has ended. The 30 day period will commence from the publication of this notice. A formal 10 day standstill period is included in the 30 Day period.
