Summary of the contracting process

The Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is currently conducting a tender process for the provisioning of a main contractor to construct affordable housing at six disused garage sites in and around Eagle Way, Shoeburyness. The procurement is at the active tender stage, with the deadline for submitting completed SQ Responses set for 14:00 on Tuesday 20th July 2021. Planning permission has already been granted for the sites, and the contractor will be required to comply with various planning requirements, including landscaping and access. The procurement method used is a restricted procedure, and relevant procurement documents are available on the council's procurement portal.

This tender presents significant opportunities for construction firms, particularly those specialising in affordable housing projects and urban redevelopment. Businesses with experience in demolition, design, and build processes will find this engagement particularly suitable, while those capable of addressing planning requirements and landscaping will also be well-placed to compete. As the project aims to revitalise community spaces through the construction of new homes, companies that can demonstrate capability in delivering high-quality housing solutions are encouraged to respond.
