NCC431 Northumberland Domestic Abuse Support Services
Notice Description
New statutory responsibilities have been placed on local authorities under the new Domestic Abuse Act which came into law in April 2021. We would like to hear your views on the future models of domestic abuse support services in Northumberland and have therefore organised a provider information and engagement event is scheduled to be held as follows: Thursday 22 July 2021 at 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm via Teams Please register your place at this event by contacting Lindsey Williamson on email: lindsey.williamson@northumberland.gov.uk who will send you the Teams invitation. To book a place please contact Lindsey before Monday 19 July 2021.

Lot 1
The new duties include: * The local authority has to provide support to victims of domestic abuse and their children in refuges and other safe accommodation. This covers: o Assessment of need for accommodation-based domestic abuse support for all victims in their area, including those who require cross-border support o Development and publication of a strategy for the provision of such support to cover their locality, having regard to the needs assessment o This will then form part of the overall strategy used by the board to monitor, evaluate, and report on. * The new duty covers the following kinds of safe accommodation: o Refuge accommodation o Specialist safe accommodation o Dispersed accommodation o Sanctuary schemes o Move on or second stage accommodation In Northumberland, the existing service provision does not fully cover the duties of the Act. To that end, Northumberland County Council are advertising to seek tenders from suitably experienced and qualified organisations with the intention of supporting the Council to meet the duties in relation to domestic abuse for victims, perpetrators and children.
