Summary of the contracting process

Bristol City Council is preparing to establish a flexible framework for Alternative Learning Provision (ALP) to assist children and young people with alternative education needs. This process, titled "CSI-ED-Alternative Learning Framework," falls under the industry category of health and social work services and is currently in the planning stage. The framework will operate from 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2027, with a total proposed value of £12 million, and will offer contractors the opportunity to submit their tenders starting from 1 January 2022. Key aspects involve three contract lots, including full-time ALP, part-time ALP, and in-school support, with potential collaboration with neighbouring local authorities to enhance funding and resource pooling.

This tender provides an excellent opportunity for businesses engaged in educational services, particularly those specialising in alternative learning and support for young people with diverse educational needs. Organisations that can deliver tailored educational interventions, in-school support services, or part-time learning provisions will be particularly well-positioned to compete. Successful providers will be included in the Provision of Alternative Learning System catalogue, potentially expanding their reach to both Bristol City Council and local schools while contributing to the improvement of educational outcomes for vulnerable groups.
