Summary of the contracting process

Northern Gas Networks Limited is currently engaged in a procurement process for the "Contract for the provision of Leakage Repair Sealants". This contract, which falls under the chemical products category for the oil and gas industry, is aimed at ensuring the operational needs of the organisation in the North East of the UK are met. The procurement is at the award stage, with a contract value of £350,000, signed on 13 July 2021. The existing framework agreement expired on 30 June 2021, necessitating a single source extension for a further 12 months as specifications are being updated. This tender will support compliance with new standards anticipated to be published by the British Standards Institute later in the year.

This procurement process presents a significant opportunity for businesses that specialise in providing chemical products, especially those focusing on leakage repair solutions within the oil and gas sector. Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) are particularly well-positioned to compete, given their agility and potential for innovation in developing compliant products. Companies looking to grow in the energy sector should consider participating in the upcoming full tender event that Northern Gas Networks plans to conduct once the new standards are finalised.
