Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process is led by the Platform Equipment Delivery Team (PEDT) of the UK Ministry of Defence, focusing on the acquisition of Submarine Escape Survival Equipment (SESE). This contract, valued between £10 million and £15 million, falls under the goods category and revolves around safety equipment designed for submarine staff. The tender is currently in the selection stage, with submissions due by 18th August 2021. Interested parties can register their intent to participate via the e-Tendering system, ensuring compliance with multiple standards set out by the authority.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in the manufacturing of survival equipment and protective gear. Companies capable of innovative design and swift prototyping would be well-suited to compete, given the requirement to produce multiple prototypes and comply with stringent safety and environmental standards. The potential for contract renewal and ad-hoc purchases of equipment increases the attractiveness for suppliers, particularly those with experience in defence-related contracts.
