The GEP want to provide the opportunity for nurses to obtain a higher-level qualification in Genomics. The Authority is inviting quotations for the provision of an innovative, post-graduate blended learning course in Genomics for a funded cohort of nurses at Clinical Nurse Specialist or equivalent level. A contract would cover 18 months (with the option to extend for a further 18 months dependent on GEP budget allocation). Detailed Requirements We are inviting bids from Higher Education Institutions in England for the provision of an innovative, post-graduate blended learning course in Genomics for a funded cohort of nurses and midwives. The course must cover: a) The fundamentals of genetics and genomics and inheritance b) An introduction to genetic counselling skills, taking consent, and feedback of results in the rare disease and cancer settings c) Undertaking Genomics related conversations with patients and their families d) Research and evaluation skills e) Process in place to enable students to evidence work-based learning The course must include opportunities to practise skills and learning through role play with feedback, case-based discussions, group work, written and spoken exercises and reflective learning. Pre-and post-course evaluation must be included. Opportunity for private study between each of the periods of course delivery is expected. Access to online learning platforms, including support networks for learners e.g. Blackboard. Bidders must be able to provide appropriate administrative resources to register the learners for the course and to deal with ongoing queries.
