Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is currently extending a contract for the Personal Independence Payments (PIP) Assessment Service, specifically for Lot 3. This contract, classified under health and social work services, has been adjusted to accommodate unforeseen circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The extension will run from 1st August 2021 to 31st July 2023, allowing DWP to maintain service continuity while incorporating flexibility for future service design changes. The procurement stage is currently at the award phase, with a total contract value of £705.9 million. The delivery addresses are located throughout the UK.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in health and social work services, particularly those that provide assessment and consultation services. Companies that can manage high volumes of assessments and adapt to varied delivery methods, including remote options, will excel in this competitive process. Collaborations with disability organisations and a thorough understanding of the PIP framework will also position suppliers advantageously for success in securing this contract.
