Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the 'Magnox Independent Asbestos Assurance Services' was conducted by Magnox Ltd, located in Oldbury Nate, UK. This project falls under the services industry category, specifically focusing on technical analysis and consultancy services. The procurement method used was a limited award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, and the process is now complete. The contract, signed on 1 September 2021, involved an independent assurance provision for asbestos verification, with critical specifications including fibre counting and bulk analysis. This contract's details were finalised on 8 October 2021, marking the closure of this procurement.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in environmental services, particularly those with expertise in asbestos consultancy and analysis. Firms with capabilities in technical analysis, air and bulk sample testing using advanced methodologies would be well-suited to compete in future similar contracts. Given that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) was the only supplier deemed capable of fulfilling these specific technical requirements, new entrants should focus on obtaining relevant certifications and developing innovative solutions to potentially secure future tenders in this specialised field.
