Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is seeking bids for the provision of Secondary Healthcare Services (SHC) to British Forces Cyprus and the Sovereign Base Area. This open tender is currently in the Award stage following the completion of the procurement process. The contract, valued at €22,206,742, was signed on 6 October 2021 and is set to commence on 1 April 2022. The procurement covers the health services industry, specifically aimed at ensuring access to effective, safe, and efficient healthcare 24/7 for eligible personnel and their dependents based in Cyprus.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those with capabilities in secondary healthcare provision. Companies with expertise in hospital services, including obstetrics, are particularly well-suited to compete. As there is a scope for subcontracting, smaller enterprises can also collaborate with larger healthcare providers to enhance their competitiveness in this market, thereby contributing to business growth while fulfilling critical health service needs for military and associated personnel.
