Lot Information

Lot 1

Please note this is not the start of a procurement process. A separate contract notice will be published to cover this requirement. The primary purpose of this PIN is to inform the market of prospective requirements, as far as the details are known at this time. NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a special health authority in the NHS and is responsible for the provision of blood components and a range of associated laboratory and patient therapeutic services to hospitals in England. NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) require a donation chair that can be used for the collection of whole blood, platelets and plasma. The proposed solution must be robust, hygienic, cost effective, space saving, have the ability to become portable, safe to operate and it's construction must be simple with minimal impact to operational processes. Across NHSBT there are a total 55 mobile teams (each supplied with 11 donation chairs) and 25 Static Donor Centre's (each supplied with 7 chairs). A flow diagram has been drafted to detail the current mobility requirements of NHSBT donation chairs when in operational use across mobile teams only. This can be found in the documents section of C50302.The below list of features advises Suppliers of the current clinical and operational requirements that NHSBT seeks from a donation chair. It is NHSBT's intention to obtain a design solution that is least impacting to current blood collection processes. There will be opportunity on the day of the Supplier Engagement event to explore different design solutions that can help NHSBT achieve these features. 1. It is a requirement to transport multiple chairs to and from external venue's which NHSBT have hired to run collection sessions. The Supplier should present a design solution that shows how this feature can be achieved with their product. 2. The chair must have the ability to adjust the donation chair armrests to support better venepuncture access to the Donors veins. The Supplier should present a design solution that shows how this feature can be achieved with their product.3. The chair must have the ability to be placed into both an upright position and a reclining position where the latter is activated to initiate the collection process. The Supplier should present a design solution that shows how this feature can be achieved with their product.4. The chair must have the ability to be supplied with a table allowing for storage of blood collection consumables and equipment such as blood weigher/ mixer device (current practice positions the blood mixer equipment directly beneath the donation chair table where the device max weight is 5kg). The Supplier should present a design solution that shows how this feature can be achieved with their product.Prior to commencing a formal procurement process and to help inform our strategy/requirements, NHSBT would like to consult the market to establish the likely level of interest and identify further opportunities and potential issues. It is our intention to invite those organisations who express an interest in this PIN to a supplier engagement meeting to be held in December 2021/ January 2022.To enable NHSBT to finalise arrangements (e.g. send meeting location details and agree time slots) for the supplier engagement meetings, interested organisations are required to send an email (expressing their interest) to Michael O'Neill by no later than 17.00 (GMT) on 20.11.2021, including a list of your potential attendees and a brief of overview (or a website link) of the goods/services which might be offered. Further information (e.g. the DRAFT technical specifications, award criteria, intended timescales, etc.) may be released -- for consultation purposes only -- to those organisations who express an interest. It is the intention of NHSBT to award a 10 year contract agreement for this requirement by September 2022. Please note that all details are subject to change.
