Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), located in Cambuslang, UKM, has undertaken a public procurement process for the provision of post-incident support services, specifically within the psychiatric or psychological services category (CPV: 85121270). This service provision aims to support staff exposed to traumatic stress during critical incidents. The procurement process has concluded, and the contract, valued at £792,500, was awarded on 4th February 2022 to the Rivers Centre for Traumatic Stress in Edinburgh. The contract's term was extended to allow for a new procurement exercise, and it spans a duration of 1590 days. Initiated under the open procedure, the procurement transitioned through various stages, including planning, tendering, and awarding, with the latest update recorded on 18th December 2025.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in psychiatric or psychological services, particularly those with expertise in working with emergency services. By aligning themselves with SFRS, companies can expand their portfolio to include public sector contracts, which can lead to further engagements with other government agencies. Businesses that possess a solid track record in handling traumatic stress, have established frameworks for psychological first aid, and can create educational packages for resilience building are well-suited to compete in future tenders of a similar nature. Engaging in such contracts not only has the potential to boost business growth but also offers the chance to contribute to the well-being of emergency services personnel.
