Summary of the contracting process

The TimberLINK Services procurement process, initiated by Scottish Forestry, aims to establish a timber transport and shipping service operating primarily in the Argyll and Ayrshire regions of the United Kingdom. This open tender, classified under transport services (excluding waste transport), seeks to transport a minimum of 75,000 tonnes of timber per annum. The procurement is currently at the award stage, with the contract valued at approximately £4.82 million, signed on 26th July 2022. The process required bidders to meet specific quality assurance and quality management standards, as detailed in the ITT Evaluation Guide.

This tender presents significant opportunities for companies specialising in logistics and transport, particularly those with established capabilities in timber handling and shipping. Businesses well-versed in meeting rigorous quality standards and those capable of providing a comprehensive transport solution are well-suited to compete. Additionally, the participation of large suppliers is noted, thus smaller enterprises that can demonstrate reliability and quality may find avenues to collaborate or innovate in service delivery to secure a position in this lucrative market.
