Summary of the contracting process

Translink, the contracting authority based in Belfast, has initiated a procurement process titled "P-1875 Ticket Roll Stock" for the supply of printed ticket rolls compatible with their Wayfarer ticketing equipment utilized across their services including Metro, NI Railways, and Ulsterbus. The procurement method is an open procedure, and this tender is currently in the award stage with contracts active as of 28 February 2022. The total contract value is estimated at £600,000, and the anticipated start date for the delivery of goods is early February 2022. Interested suppliers should note that the tender period concluded on 8 December 2021, and a standstill period of at least 10 calendar days is incorporated following the contract award notification.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for suppliers in the printed matter and ticketing solutions industry, particularly those experienced in delivering goods compatible with transport systems. Businesses that specialise in producing transport tickets or other related printed materials may find it advantageous to engage with Translink, especially given the ongoing enhancements to ticketing technology within the transport framework. With the possibility of further calls for competition following the initial contract period, potential suppliers should consider positioning themselves to capitalise on future procurement opportunities within the urban transport sector.
