Summary of the contracting process

The Corporate Officer of the House of Lords and the Corporate Officer of the House of Commons is planning a tender for the establishment of a framework for the supply and installation of furniture and associated services. This procurement falls within the goods category, specifically focusing on furniture, and is set to take place on the parliamentary estate in London, Westminster. The value of the contract is estimated at £9,000,000, and the framework duration will be four years. A prior information notice has been issued, with the formal procurement process expected to commence with a contract notice in the first quarter of 2022. Communication regarding this tender can be directed to Victoria Carpenter at the provided contact details.

This tender presents a substantial opportunity for businesses specialising in furniture supply and installation, especially those with experience in managing complex projects within high-profile environments. Companies that focus on environmentally sustainable products and offer bespoke solutions will be particularly well-suited to compete. Given the scale and uniqueness of the parliamentary estate, suppliers that can demonstrate expertise in ergonomic design and adaptability to varied workspace requirements will likely have a competitive advantage. Businesses looking to expand their portfolios in the public sector should consider engaging with this opportunity as demand for high-quality, enhanced working environments continues to rise.

Lot Information

Lot 1

The House of Lords and the House of Commons are intending to establish a bicameral parliamentary framework for the supply and installation of furniture and associated services. The single source supplier will work closely with IHSE to deliver a space efficient working environment and will support the Authority to standardise on workspace furniture and to secure products that minimise environmental impact. Covering an extensive area and, with a unique built environment, the parliamentary estate is home to thousands of employees with differing workstyles and furniture requirements. In addition, the estate welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year who include tourists, school parties and delegates attending events on the estate. Continuing a programme of essential building upgrade works (mechanical, electrical and security), furniture is being replaced where required as to improve space usage and building efficiency. The scope of the framework will include but may not be limited to supply (including hire), installation of standard office / break out furniture; supply and installation of modified standard furniture (as may be required to support specific working arrangements) and supply and installation of bespoke furniture in the instance that no standard product can satisfy end user and / or other requirement(s). The successful supplier will also be required to provide a full management service and to support the work of IHSE in expediting furniture at the right time; to the required and relevant standards and who will support the Authority in its desire to standardise office workstations and to secure products in the market that has least impact on our environment. Additional information: Please note this is a Prior Information Notice and there are no tender documents to download or submit at this stage. A contract notice will be issued to signal commencement of the formal procurement process. It is anticipated that this will be issued during Q1 2022.
