Summary of the contracting process

The contracting process is being led by Cheshire East Council for the "Care At Home (Domiciliary Care)" services, classified under the Health and Social Work Services industry. This procurement is currently in the Award stage, with an overall contract value of £76,385,276. The intended modification of the existing framework contract will extend its term by 12 months, now scheduled to last until 2nd September 2023. This initiative, located in the UKD6 region, involves joint commissioning with the Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group and South Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group, addressing the urgent need for care services amidst the ongoing staffing crisis in the care sector.

This tender provides significant growth opportunities for businesses within the care sector, particularly those offering homecare services and support for individuals with complex health needs. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as larger established firms, stand to benefit from the chance to bid for care packages, especially as existing providers face challenges. Prospective suppliers should be prepared to supplement the primary contractors while ensuring high standards of service delivery that promote independence and quality of life for service users in their own homes.
