Summary of the contracting process

The Western Health and Social Care Trust is currently involved in the provision of domiciliary care services within the Western Health and Social Care Trust Area, as part of a tender initiated under the legal basis of EU directive 32014L0024. This procurement falls under the category of 'Other community, social and personal services' and is valued at approximately £17.46 million. The service is aimed at improving care delivery across critical areas and is set for a contract period of 1800 days, with key amendments directed by the Department of Health Northern Ireland to enhance service provider funding. The procurement process is presently at the award stage, following the signing of the contract in September 2016, which reflects the ongoing need for enhanced capacity in the domiciliary care sector.

Businesses specialising in health and social care services, particularly those with experience in domiciliary care, will find a significant opportunity in this contract. This expansion reflects a commitment to improving staff pay and terms, thereby requiring providers equipped to meet increased demands for service delivery and quality. Companies that can navigate the complexities of care provision, particularly in the context of the Covid-19 impacted environment, will be well-positioned to compete for this vital contract. Ensuring compliance with stringent health regulations and demonstrating a capacity for service improvement will be crucial for participation.
