Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group is conducting a tender process for the "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) Service" under the health and social work services category. The procurement process, currently in the Award stage, involves entering into a contract with South Coast Fatigue, commencing on 1st April 2022 and lasting for two years, with a possible two-year extension. This contract is valued at £1,000,000, with an annual investment of £250,000 allocated to the combined service for Hampshire, Southampton, and the Isle of Wight, which merges prior contracts from different Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those offering treatment and support for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. Organisations with experience in delivering multidisciplinary health interventions and lifestyle management services are well-suited to participate, especially those that can demonstrate a track record of effective service delivery. As the current provider has been directly awarded the contract due to lack of competition in prior tenders, interested suppliers should prepare to engage proactively to express interest, as there may be future opportunities for competitive bidding following the initial contract period.

Strategic Objectives: In line with the NHS Long Term Plan, and the Community Mental Health Transformation Programme the HSIOW CCG is pursuing the development and implementation of an effective network of community mental health services. The primary aims are to: * ensure that at the start of a person's recovery, wherever and however a person accesses care they are met with compassion, understanding, and supported with both their physical and mental wellbeing. * build teams around communities that are close to people's homes, by working with our partners including the voluntary sector, making sure people's recovery is close to their personal support networks. * provide people who are working across these physical and mental health services with the right support and training, making sure we have creative career options across the area. The NHS Long Term Plan describes the vision and ambition for patients to have more options, better support, and care at the right time in the optimal care setting. Evidence of improvement is also strong for the secondary outcome measures of depression and anxiety and there was some evidence for improvement in pain. Almost all patients (91.5%) reported a positive change in their health and wellbeing according to the Clinical Global Impression questionnaire. Maintain stability in the medium term, to ensure the best possible outcomes and experience for our patients.
