Summary of the contracting process

The East Lothian Council is inviting tenders for the "Ash dieback survey project" concentrated on surveying ash trees alongside East Lothian's public roads network, which spans approximately 1,072.6 km. The procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with the official call for tenders scheduled to be released on May 2, 2022, and submissions due by May 30, 2022. This initiative falls under the category of agricultural, forestry, horticultural, aquacultural, and apicultural services. Interested parties are expected to submit their proposals electronically, adhering to the criteria outlined in the tender documents, which particularly emphasise relevant experience, capability, and necessary insurance requirements.

This procurement process presents considerable opportunities for businesses engaged in environmental services, particularly those with expertise in forestry and tree health assessments. Companies specialising in ecological surveys, consultancy services for land management, or those providing solutions related to tree disease management would be particularly suited to compete. With the requirement for Community Benefits and a contractual focus on sustainability, contractors demonstrating a strong commitment to social and environmental considerations are likely to hold a competitive advantage in this tendering process.
