Summary of the contracting process

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is planning a tender for the Foundational Learning for Girls Programme (FLAG), aimed at improving educational outcomes in Uganda. The primary objective is to support a return to school for 150,000 out-of-school children and enhance learning for 400,000 children at risk of dropping out, particularly targeting girls. This initiative falls within the foreign economic-aid-related services category, with a total budget of £30 million. The procurement is currently at the planning stage, with communication regarding future notice anticipated by 10 January 2023. An Early Market Engagement event is scheduled for 5 May 2022, providing suppliers with further insights into the project and its requirements.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in educational services, especially those focused on community engagement and learning recovery solutions. Companies with experience in delivering educational programmes, training for caregivers, and support services for vulnerable children will be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. The upcoming call for competition is an excellent prospect for organisations looking to expand their reach in international development and education sectors, especially those aligned with the government’s objectives in Uganda.
