Summary of the contracting process

The BLMK Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), located at Capability House in Silsoe, is initiating a planned procurement process under the Light Touch Regime to award contracts for the provision of Primary Medical Services via a General Medical Services (GMS) contract model. This procurement is aimed at four locations: Arlesey Medical Centre, Bramingham Park Medical Centre, Kingsway Health Centre, and Shortstown Surgery, with the contracts to commence on 1st October 2022 for the first three centres and on 1st November 2022 for Shortstown Surgery. Interested parties are invited to a virtual pre-procurement market engagement event scheduled for 11th May 2022, and the Invitation to Tender is expected to be released on 17th May 2022, with a deadline for event registration set for noon on 9th May 2022.

This procurement presents an excellent opportunity for existing general medical services (GMS) GP contractors to expand their operations by taking over established practices with existing patient lists. Businesses that specialise in providing primary medical care can apply to operate as branch surgeries at the specified locations, thereby ensuring continuity of service for local patients. The strategic aim of the BLMK CCG to retain current premises and enhance service delivery positions this tender as a vital opportunity for those looking to grow in the healthcare services sector.

Notice Title

BLMK Primary Medical Services - Branch with patient list

Notice Description

The Authority (BLMK CCG) has taken a strategic decision not to re-procure GP contracts of around 10,000 weighted list size or below as stand-alone APMS contracts, to ensure robust and sustainable long-term delivery of services. The CCG has a strong desire that the current premises are maintained within primary care ensuring adequate access, capacity, and resilience for general practice services. The CCG has decided that the most appropriate way to achieve this aim is to advertise these practices as branches with patient lists, thus retaining the current premises with managed list dispersal to the successful bidder/s. Therefore, BLMK CCG is seeking interest from existing general medical services (GMS) GP contractors to take on: * Arlesey Medical Centre and/or * Bramingham Park Medical Centre and/or * Kingsway Health Centre and/or * Shortstown Surgery premises All as branch surgeries with the current patient lists (by allocation while noting patient registration choice) - from 1 October 2022 for Arlesey Medical Centre, Bramingham Park Medical Centre, and Kingsway Health Centre and from 1 November 2022 for Shortstown Surgery.
