Summary of the contracting process

The Western Health and Social Care Trust is currently engaged in a tender process for the provision of domiciliary care services within its operational area, specifically Lot 5 in Irvinestown. This tender, classified under the 'Other community, social and personal services' category, has been impacted by delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, leading to an extension of the current contract until 30th September 2023. A new re-procurement exercise is being prepared to ensure continuity of service, with contracts expected to be implemented post-expiry of the current agreements. The initiation type for this procurement is tender, and it is governed by the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses within the health and social care sector, particularly those specialising in domiciliary care services. Companies that are capable of delivering frontline care effectively and can adapt to the challenges posed by circumstances such as the pandemic would be well-suited to compete. Both large and small enterprises in the social and personal services industry have the potential to expand their operations through participation in this procurement process, as it entails significant contract values and a commitment to service delivery in a critical area of community support.
