Summary of the contracting process

The Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is planning to procure an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution and associated services as part of a voluntary Prior Information Notice (PIN). This procurement falls within the healthcare industry and is particularly focused on supporting clinical operations for approximately 500 beds and 45,000 annual admissions. The procurement stage is currently in the planning phase, with a Supplier Briefing Event scheduled for 20th May 2022. Interested suppliers must register by 17:00 on 19th May 2022 to attend this virtual session. The potential maximum contract term is anticipated to be up to 10 years.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in software solutions, particularly those focused on medical software and healthcare information systems. Suppliers capable of providing a fully managed, hosted EPR solution, alongside deployment, implementation, support, and maintenance services, will be well-positioned to compete. Given the scale of this procurement, companies aiming to expand their footprint in the NHS and leverage collaborative partnerships within Integrated Care Systems should consider engaging with this process.
