Summary of the contracting process

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has completed the procurement process for the "Vehicle and Components Testing Framework" under technical services category. The framework was aimed to establish supply testing services for vehicles and vehicle components to ensure compliance with guidelines and emissions standards. The contracting authority, DVSA, is located in Bristol, United Kingdom. The procurement method used was an open procedure, with the tender status now showing as cancelled. The procurement involved multiple suppliers providing technical testing services.

This tender process for vehicle testing services presents an opportunity for businesses in the technical services industry. Companies specialising in vehicle testing, emissions investigations, and technical support services would be well-suited to compete for this tender. The DVSA framework required suppliers to meet specific testing standards and have the capacity to deliver results efficiently. Businesses with experience in automotive type approval testing and analysis, along with expertise in vehicle safety standards, could benefit from participating in such tenders and potentially grow their business through government contracts.

Notice Title

Vehicle and Components Testing Framework

Notice Description

DVSA requires vehicle testing and emissions investigations, to check that in-service vehicles comply with the relevant guidelines, regulations and emissions standards for their respective categories. For emissions, attention will be paid to the range of pollutants and any disparities observed under the different test conditions. In addition to vehicles, many vehicle components will require testing as well, for example catalytic converters, tyres, glass, and lamps. These are often tested on special rigs, in specialist laboratories. The technical specification in Annex 1 lists the main automotive type approval requirements that are likely to require testing, inspection and analysis. In addition to the type approval testing and analysis requirements, DVSA may require services to provide testing or analysis on vehicle safety standards.
