Notice Title
Early Market Engagement for DfE Future Construction Procurement Approach
Notice Description
The Department for Education (DfE) is responsible for funding and standards in education, which includes supporting the delivery of building and maintenance programmes for schools, academies, free schools and sixth-form colleges. At our heart, we are the department for realising potential. In respect of our school buildings, our vision is to provide good quality spaces and places to help schools deliver an excellent education for all children and young people. This PIN is issued by the DfE to engage with the market seeking views for the potential for DfE's future procurement approach for construction of education buildings including schools, academies and further education institutions. The DfE wishes both to build on the successes from its existing frameworks, and further develop modern methods of construction, innovation, sustainability, resilience, productivity and efficiency of delivery and value creation across the construction market, applying the principles and cross-cutting priorities in the Construction Playbook, and the themes in the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) Transforming Infrastructure Performance Roadmap to 2030. DfE currently manages two bespoke frameworks for school buildings, which are: the DfE Offsite Schools Framework (Incorporating Modular & MMC delivery), which is due to expire in 2024, and the Construction Framework 2021 (which followed the Construction Framework 2017). DfE is also building on its recently issued specification for more sustainable school buildings towards carbon net zero in operation new schools. The market engagement event will outline the current method for delivery of schools and present DfE Capital's current challenges and priorities. DfE are inviting market feedback on how the supply chain can help DfE to achieve those priorities to 2030 and beyond, and respond to these issues and shape future procurement strategy in line with Construction Playbook priorities and Transforming Infrastructure Performance Roadmap to 2030. Interested parties must register to attend an in-person event to be held on Monday 20 June 2022 in Birmingham by no later than 12.00 noon on Friday 10th June 2022 at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/pre-market-engagement-for-dfe-future-construction-procurement-approach-registration-315554842027 Full event details will be confirmed following registration of interest. Please note that spaces are currently limited to 200 therefore a maximum of 2 people per organisation are permitted. Early registration is recommended. Also note this event is restricted to industry specific organisations and DfE reserve the right to restrict attendees accordingly.
