Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is currently conducting a tender for a research project titled "Improving the sustainability of biomass feedstocks production." This procurement falls within the services category, particularly focusing on research services, and is located in the UK. The tender is at the active stage, with submissions closing on 19th July 2022. The total value of the contract is £200,000, and the contract period will run from 1st September 2022 to 31st July 2023, with the award period commencing on the closing date for submissions.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that specialise in sustainability research, environmental studies, or biomass technology. Businesses equipped to undertake the project's three distinct work packages related to biomass production, soil carbon assessment, and waste-derived feedstocks sustainability will be particularly well-suited to compete. This engagement in a government-sponsored research initiative can not only enhance the selected contractor's profile but also contribute to policy-relevant evidence that could shape future product offerings and market strategies in the bioenergy sector.
