Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process is initiated by Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow) Ltd, focusing on the upgrade of lift doors for a shipbuilding project. This planned tender, titled "Lift door upgrades," falls under the goods category and is classified within the CPV code for elevators and conveyors (42417000). The procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a future notice expected on 13th July 2022. The projects are to be delivered in the UK, specifically addressing the enhancements needed for passenger lifts to accommodate semi-watertight doors.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the marine engineering and lift manufacturing sectors, particularly those offering innovative solutions for modernising or upgrading lift systems. Suppliers who specialise in manufacturing-independent lift solutions or have experience in shipbuilding projects would be well-positioned to compete for this contract, given the specific requirements for integration into existing ship designs and the need for compliance with ship stability standards.

Notice Title

Lift door upgrades

Notice Description

We have a potential problem in one of our ongoing passenger shipbuilding projects for integration of a semi-watertight door in a passenger lift due to ship stability requirements. Currently, the installation of the lifts has not started yet, but we want to upgrade our configuration by removing the existing shaft doors and fit a semi-watertight door instead.

Lot Information

Lot 1

We have a potential problem in one of our ongoing passenger shipbuilding projects for integration of a semi-watertight door in a passenger lift due to ship stability requirements. Currently, the installation of the lifts has not started yet, but we want to upgrade our configuration by removing the existing shaft doors and fit a semi-watertight door instead. This new semi-watertight door will be a sliding door that is interlocked to the lift cabin doors so that it can only open when the lift is at that level. It is not possible to fit the new semi-watertight door inboard of the car deck bulkhead since there is insufficient clearance to the mezzanine deck ramps. In short, we are struggling with the original lift manufacturer's pace and reaction to our requests, we have seen your website and are interested in your "manufacturer-independent solutions" in terms of modernising/upgrading marine lifts. Would you be interested in such a project and go for detailed discussions?
