Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has issued a notification of abandonment for the "OI/0078 - Field Electrical Power Supplies - Support (FEPS-S)" procurement process, initially aimed at providing fleet management, repair, and maintenance services for generators. The decision, dated 25th September 2024, follows a review highlighting inadequate record-keeping of bid evaluations. The MOD intends to re-procure this contract, ensuring potential suppliers are kept informed of further developments via the Defence Sourcing Portal (DSP). The procurement was initially in the tender stage, with the location primarily being the United Kingdom and falling under the services category, particularly fleet management, repair, and maintenance services for electrical generators.

This tender represents significant growth opportunities, particularly for businesses specialising in maintenance and repair services for electrical power generators and distribution equipment. The MOD is seeking companies with strong quality management systems certified to ISO 9001:2015 or equivalent. Suppliers should be capable of managing government-furnished equipment, providing through-life support, and collaborating with existing providers such as Babcock Land Defence Limited. The procurement method will be a negotiated selective process, with detailed requirements and opportunities for subcontracting. The contract's estimated value is £48 million, making it a substantial opportunity for businesses in the defence and electrical maintenance sectors.
