Summary of the contracting process

The Oxford Brookes University has awarded a contract for the provision of Occupational Health services to Oxford University Hospital NHS Trust Centre for Occupational Health and Wellbeing. The contract, valued at 630,000 GBP, was signed on 4th January 2023. The procurement process, conducted through a limited procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, aimed to supply occupational health services to students studying Health and social work programmes. The services cover campuses in Swindon and Oxford, supporting the University in maintaining a healthy and safe working environment for staff and students.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses in the health services sector, specifically in providing occupational health and wellbeing services. Companies with experience in delivering health services to educational institutions and large organisations would be well-suited to compete for such contracts. The procurement stage has passed the award phase, making it essential for businesses to stay informed about upcoming tenders in the health services category to seize similar opportunities for growth and collaboration with public sector organisations.

Notice Title

Occupational Health services

Notice Description

Supply of occupational health services to students on Health and social work programmes within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Contract value is based on student numbers and the individual requirement for vaccinations and support given. Total value of procurement could be lower.

Lot Information

Lot 1

Swindon and Oxford Campuses which supports OBU to employ and teach staff and students who are physically and mentally fit to carry out the tasks for which they are employed or studying and to ensure that the working environment is healthy and safe.

Procurement Information

The supplier was chosen to remain in service due to the demand on national occupational health services and supplies. Upon market testing, some suppliers stated they may be saturated and have limited capacity to bid for extra work. In order to not pursue a lesser competitive procurement exercise, with competing tight deadlines and getting a new supplier ready for the schedule of mobilisation, the position was taken to continue with the supplier. The University would be unable to operate the courses delivered to the students by the faculty of Health and Life Sciences if the time constraints to complete a well rounded tender exercise meant that the mobilisation period was impeded upon. This would mean that the students would not be fully supported and up to date with health and wellbeing requirements in order to perform their studies and placements throughout the life of their course.
