Summary of the contracting process

Wiltshire Council has released a tender for a Legal Services Framework Agreement aimed at firms of solicitors, in-house legal teams, or other organisations willing to provide external legal services within a local government context. The framework is structured into eight lots covering various legal topics such as planning, property, employment, commercial, civil and criminal litigation, adult services, childcare services, and general local government matters. The agreement is expected to start in August 2023 for a duration of four years. Suppliers are required to demonstrate expertise across all lots and may have the opportunity to compete or be directly awarded contracts.

This tender by Wiltshire Council offers business growth opportunities for legal service providers looking to expand their portfolios within the local government sector. Firms with expertise in legal services related to planning, property, employment, commercial matters, and civil and criminal litigation would be well-suited to compete for the available framework lots. Businesses demonstrating capacity in providing advice and representation across different legal domains, and ability to ensure continuity for extended matters, stand to benefit from participating in this tender. Suppliers with innovative approaches to supporting and nurturing junior legal professionals within the Council's team may also find added value through this procurement process.
