Lot Information
School based health checks in Charedi girls' schools
Do you have an interest in improving the health and wellbeing of school-age children? Hackney Council is seeking an experienced community provider with an interest in child health and wellbeing that would have experience of, or be willing to be trained in, the clinical skills required to safely deliver hearing, sight, and height and weight checks for school-age children as well as oral health education. The successful provider will have a proven existing relationship with the local schools, families and the wider community and be able to deliver a culturally sensitive service. The successful provider would be expected to: - Undertake a school entry health check, including a hearing and vision test, (with re-testing of the audio hearing test for those children identified with concerns) - Measure the height and weight of all reception girls, aged 4-5 years old (depending on age of entry to school) - Measure the height and weight of all year 6 girls, aged 10-11 years old (depending on age at entry to school) - Deliver oral health education for year 6 girls - Recruit and encourage participation from all community girls' schools (currently 10 girls' schools), that are eligible for the service - Provide excellent record keeping and IT infrastructure to ensure that health data is recorded accurately and stored safely in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - Undertake screening to the agreed timescales with data collection taking place from September with submission by July each year The postholder for the above service will receive training, supervision and clinical oversight from a local school based health service provider (currently Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust) and receive support and guidance throughout the process.
Renewal: Initial contract period of 3 years, with 2 optional annual extensions (PS20,000 per year)

Physical activity in Charedi girls' schoolsDo you work closely with schools in your community? Do you value the importance of physical activity and overall wellbeing? Hackney Council is seeking a dedicated individual to collaborate closely with girls' schools in the community, with a focus on increasing participation in physical activity. The provision of physical activity in schools goes beyond physical health; it positively influences cognitive functioning, academic achievement, self-esteem, and social interaction. We understand that children and young people may not automatically develop the knowledge, understanding, skills, behaviours, attitudes, and confidence necessary for regular participation in physical activity. That's why we need someone to support the development of physical activity to help shape the overall well-being of children and young people. You will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with schools to develop culturally appropriate initiatives and support schools in implementing engaging ways to increase participation in physical activity. This can include training and supporting staff to introduce initiatives such as the Daily Mile, or to work on developing other initiatives that will be suitable to school timetables. The successful provider would be expected to: - Provide support in developing physical education and increasing participation in physical activity, ideally, in schools - Create strategies to reduce sedentary behaviour within the classroom and throughout the day - Integrate initiatives, like the Daily Mile, or develop similar activities that fit around schools' timetables - Enhance students' confidence and competence in participating in physical education - Deliver engaging physical activity after-school clubs, where required - Empower and upskill school staff, ensuring the long-term sustainability of these initiatives
Renewal: Initial contract period of 3 years, with 2 optional annual extensions (PS12,500 per year)
