Notice Information
Notice Title
Treatment and Disposal of Garden and Residual Waste
Notice Description
The Council has a statutory duty to collect and arrange for the receipt and disposal of household waste and other waste arising within North Somerset. The disposal of garden waste and residual waste is currently included within this arrangement. North Somerset Council (in collaboration with BANES for residual waste, and possibly in the future for garden waste) would like to engage with the marketplace over the next few weeks to discuss the contract opportunity. We welcome providers getting in touch at their earliest opportunity to help us shape the future service and contract Treatment of Residual Waste The current 'top-up/ contingency' contract is due to end at the end of February 2024. This contract is for the receipt and treatment of residual waste on a contingency basis only. Waste will be directed to this contractor on a "contingency" basis when NSC's main residual waste treatment facility is unavailable. This could be due to unplanned outages or when it will not take certain residual waste streams. Previous years usage estimates circa 6,000-12,000 tonnes per annum is likely to through this contract. The value of which is cPS1.3m over an estimated term of 6 years. The Council is aiming for zero waste to landfill as soon as possible, so it is important to procure a contingency residual waste arrangement that avoids landfill. Treatment of Garden Waste This contract is for the receipt and treatment of garden waste. Previous years usage estimates circa 16,000 tonnes per annum will go through this contract. The value of which is cPS1.3m over an estimated term of 6 years. The contracts will start 1 March 2024. It is likely that we will place these opportunities into Lots, but that will form part of our discussions with the market. As highlighted above, BANES have expressed an interest in a collaborative procurement for residual and possibly joining the Garden waste contract later in 2024. Please contact us directly through the portal to book an appointment with our project team. We will hold all appointments over MS Teams. We look forward to hearing from you.
