Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is currently in the planning stage for the Future Ground Search Programme, a procurement exercise focused on bomb and metal detectors. The procurement process is being managed by the Specialist Explosive Ordnance Disposal & Search, Exploitation & Countermeasures (SEEC) Delivery Team (DT). The programme features three key events: an Industry Day on 15th July 2024 in Bristol, a Demonstration Event in Bicester on 1st and 2nd October 2024, and additional market engagement activities. This programme aims to procure a suite of handheld detectors, with the total value estimated at approximately £45 million for Projects 1 and 2. Suppliers interested in participating must demonstrate their capabilities and register by 29th August 2024, ensuring security clearances are in place.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in advanced detection technologies, particularly in bomb and metal detectors. Companies capable of offering robust, user-friendly, and effective detection solutions will find this a lucrative market. The planned contracts include an in-service package, covering spares, repairs, technical support, and more, making it suitable for businesses with comprehensive after-sales support capabilities. SMEs and large corporations in the defence and security sectors will benefit from engaging in this programme, as it offers a potential long-term relationship with the Ministry of Defence.
