Summary of the contracting process

North Northamptonshire Council has completed the procurement process for the contract titled "NNC- Processing of Kitchen Food Waste." This contract falls under the services category in the household-refuse disposal services industry. The procurement followed an open procedure and was covered by the GPA. The primary location for service delivery is in the region of UKF25, particularly Kettering and surrounding areas within North Northamptonshire. Fernbrook Bio Limited, a large supplier based in Kettering, was awarded the contract. The award was finalized on 22nd April 2025, with the contract being signed on 4th March 2025. The entire tender process concluded with no expenditure due to rebates, although the initially advertised contract was valued at £652,320.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in environmental services, particularly those with expertise in waste management and household-refuse disposal. It is particularly well-suited for suppliers who can offer efficient and sustainable processing of kitchen food waste, aligning with the Council's requirement for capabilities backed by appropriate permits and operational standards. The tender emphasised a balanced award criteria focused 60% on price and 40% on quality, making it favourable for firms that can deliver cost-efficient yet high-quality services. Businesses looking to secure long-term contracts in the region could find similar opportunities beneficial as the Council considers ongoing service renewals and potential future re-procurement of such services.
