Summary of the contracting process

King Henry VIII 3-19 School in Abergavenny has initiated a procurement process for cleaning services under the title "King Henry VIII 3-19 School ~ Cleaning Tender" with a projected contract value of £180,000 annually. The contract, which falls under the "services" category in the school cleaning services industry, was awarded through a restricted procedure to Atlas Facilities Management Limited. The process involved multiple stages, with bids received and evaluated before awarding the contract on 23rd July 2024. Key dates include the anticipated move into a new building in November 2024, and critical attention to the mobilisation period to ensure the right resources are in place. The procurement was aligned with the 2014 EU directive (32014L0024) and aimed to equip the school’s new facility with optimal cleaning services to cater to the expanding number of students and staff.

This procurement offers substantial opportunities for businesses in the cleaning sector, particularly for those that are small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to establish or expand their footprint in the educational services industry. The extensive and continuous cleaning requirements of an all-through school housing over 1,300 students, which is expected to grow to 1,820, present a lucrative and steady opportunity. Suppliers that excel in maintaining high standards of service and adapting to specific institutional needs, such as the transition to a new building, would find this contract particularly beneficial. The fixed-price nature of the contract, alongside the guarantee of input hours and quality, adds a layer of financial stability and predictability, making this tender an attractive prospect for well-equipped cleaning service providers.
