Summary of the contracting process

NHS Supply Chain has completed the award stage of the procurement process for the "Structural Heart & VAD’s 2025" project. This framework agreement pertains to the medical equipment industry, specifically targeting the supply of structural heart devices and ventricular assisted devices. The procurement, worth approximately £30 million in its first year, was conducted through an open procedure and includes goods such as heart valves, annuloplasty rings, and ventricular assisted devices. The framework is mandated under the NHS England High Cost Tariff Excluded Devices (HCTED) programme, requiring relevant entities to make their purchases through NHS Supply Chain. The contract, signed on 22nd November 2024, applies across various locations in the UK with an initial term of 24 months, extendable up to a total of 48 months.

This tender presents substantial growth opportunities for businesses within the medical device industry, especially those manufacturing high-cost cardiovascular equipment. Companies operating in this sector, including large-scale suppliers and SMEs, could significantly benefit from participating in NHS Supply Chain's procurement processes. Engaging in such tenders not only provides stable long-term revenue through prestigious frameworks but also enhances visibility and credibility within the healthcare sector. Firms with expertise in manufacturing heart valves, annuloplasty devices, and ventricular assisted devices are ideally positioned to leverage this opportunity for business expansion.
