Summary of the contracting process

The North Yorkshire Council, a regional authority, has completed a procurement process for the Assistive Technology service in Social work and related services. The council aimed to partner with a provider to manage the service and drive cultural change in social care delivery. The procurement process was under the open procedure method, with a focus on quality criteria like service delivery model, staffing, and innovation. The contract with an initial value of £3,320,676 was awarded to Nottingham Rehab Limited.

This tender for the Assistive Technology service presents an opportunity for businesses in the social care and support industry. Companies with expertise in service delivery models, innovation, and quality care provision would be well-suited to compete. The North Yorkshire Council's emphasis on self-referral and working with private care markets highlights avenues for business growth through this contract. As the contract includes renewal options and involves a large-scale service delivery model, businesses looking to expand their presence in the social services sector could benefit from engaging with this opportunity.

Notice Description

The Council is seeking to work with a provider to manage the Assistive Technology service and support the Council to make the necessary culture change to further embed the best use of Assistive Technology, both for people in contact with social care and the wider community. The Council required delivery model is a county wide, end to end service delivery model.

Lot Information

Lot 1

The Assistive Technology service is part of a wider transformational change within the Council and Health and Adult Services. Our new social care model of support places more emphasis on helping people to use and access the support available to them within their own networks and communities. This 'strength based approach' also encourages people to think about ways that they can retain control over their own lives and make choices for themselves. The Care Act has given us a statutory duty of prevention. The Council believes that there are opportunities to grow the number of people using Assistive Technology through self-referral and working with the private home based support care market if the benefits of the service are marketed and solutions affordable.

Renewal: Potential 12 month extension. Contract Duration: 1 October 2024 - 30 September 2026 Option to Extend: 1 October 2026 - 30 September 2027
