Summary of the contracting process

North Tyneside Council has awarded a framework contract titled "Contract 18 - Timber Supplies 2024-26" in the goods category, specifically focusing on timber products (CPV code: 03419000). The Council, a regional authority located in North Tyneside, UK (UKC22), aims to ensure the availability of suitable suppliers for timber supplies through this framework agreement. The contract, commencing on 1st September 2024, spans an initial period of 24 months with options to extend it for up to two additional 12-month periods. A mini-competition will be held annually to re-rank suppliers if necessary. The open procurement method was used, and a maximum of three contractors were appointed: National Timber Group England Ltd (Arnold Laver), Jewson Partnership Solutions (STARK Building Materials UK Ltd), and J T Dove Ltd, each signing on 30th August 2024, for contracts valued at £800,000 each.

This tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses in the timber supply industry. Companies that can supply at least 90% of the listed products and are willing to engage in competitive pricing scenarios will find this framework especially advantageous. The structure of annual mini-competitions promises dynamic market conditions, allowing responsive and competitive suppliers to thrive. Large businesses specialising in timber and related structural products, such as National Timber Group, Jewson, and J T Dove, have been identified as ideal candidates to benefit from and contribute to the contract's objectives, which include driving improvements and supporting the council's ambitions.
